I really like my 3Gun rifle
It has an aluminium free float handguard.

I'd like to have the option of putting a bipod on it and shoot it in something other than 3Gun, like Patrol Shoots, etc.

Would adding a traditional attachment stud, that a Harris bi-pod would mount on affect anything as far as shooting goes for 3Gun? hanging up on something, or something I'm not thinking about?  I know putting a bipod on will bump me into Open.

or, would a picatinny type bipod mount be the better way to go?

It's completely legal.   The only problem is that it puts you into FR Class (Full Retard), and you might be the only one in the entire country running FR.   Of course, it would set you up for 1st Place in your class, everytime you shoot.

Stud should work fine just make sure it doesn't screw in to far and touch

There is my sling stud. I use it to attach a Harris bi-pod.
I also use it as an index point in my grip.
I'd like to be an optimist.
I just don't think it would work out.
